Switzerland-born Congolese teenager Winsley Boteli has joined Swiss Super League club FC Sion from Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach on a four-and-a-half-year contract in a permanent deal, the club have announced.

The winger, who was firmly on the radar of Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge this summer, has now committed his future with the Stade de Tourbillon outfit on a long-term contract after enjoying a productive loan spell with them in the just ended football season.

A statement confirming his permanent transfer switch read: ''FC Sion is pleased to announce the permanent transfer of Winsley Boteli from Borussia Mönchengladbach . Having arrived in Valais last summer on loan with an option to buy, the 19-year-old Swiss striker is now tied to the club until June 2030.

''After a promising season with Sion, Winsley Boteli quickly demonstrated the extent of his potential and his eye for goal. The Swiss U21 international scored 11 goals in all competitions and confirmed the high hopes placed in him.''

The DR Congo-prospect teenage sensation has told the club's official website: ''I am very happy to continue with FC Sion. From the moment I arrived, I felt a lot of confidence from the club, the staff, and the fans. This season has allowed me to progress enormously, and I am convinced that the best is yet to come here. I want to continue growing with this team and give everything for this jersey.''

Sporting director Barthélémy Constantin added: ''Winsley has perfectly met our expectations this season. Beyond his sporting qualities, he embodies the mindset and values we want to see at the club. He is an ambitious, hardworking young player who is dedicated to the team. His long-term commitment demonstrates our desire to build on stability and continue to place our trust in young Swiss talent.''

Since linking up with the Sion-based club on a season-long loan in the summer of 2025, the budding star took in 38 appearances by netting 11 times and setting up another 1 for FC Sion across all contests in the just concluded season.

Given his Congolese heritage, the Geneva-born native youth star still remains eligible to switch nationality and play for the DR Congo national football team at the senior level having played for the Switzerland national youth teams in his international career so far.
