The 30-year-old defender of Ghanaian descent and the English six tier outfit are now going their separate ways this summer after spending two different seasons together in the English lowly division contests
National League North club Bedford Town FC have announced the departure of English-born Ghanaian defender Carl Mensah ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
The experienced centre-back, who reunited with the Eagles in 2023 after first severing ties with them in 2019, has now brought his long-time marriage with the New Eyrie Stadium campaigners to a close at the just ended campaign.
A statement confirming Mensah's departure read: ''Bedford Town Football Club can confirm that Carl Mensah will not be returning to Bedford Town Football Club for the 2026/27 season, bringing an end to an unforgettable spell with the Eagles.

''Carl first joined the club in 2019 before returning to The Eyrie on 10th November 2023, going on to play a key role during one of the most successful periods in the club’s recent history.
''Across his two spells with the club, Carl made 108 appearances and scored 15 goals, captaining and vice-captaining the side along the way. A commanding presence at the back, a leader on and off the pitch and a huge character within the dressing room, Carl leaves Bedford Town as a true club legend.''
''Everyone at Bedford Town Football Club would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Carl for his incredible contribution to the football club and wish him and his family all the very best for the future. To quote the big man himself... Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.''
The Ghanaian rearguard had this to tell his club's official website: ''Three unforgettable years at this club. Countless ups and only a handful of downs.
''When JT and Birchy brought me back to the club, I could never have imagined the journey we were about to go on together. To leave with promotions, clean sheets, a few goals and the unbelievable bond with teammates, fans, staff, everyone behind the scenes and I couldn’t ask for much more.

''Bedford Town has given me some of the best moments of my career. I’ve enjoyed the most success I’ve had as a player here and more importantly had a laugh along the way which made this decision even more difficult!"
He is yet to earn his international cap with either the England national football team or the Ghana national football team on the international stage.
