Ghana defender Baba Abdul Rahman came off the bench to score a late equalizer as PAOK drew 1-1 with Norwegian side Brann in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League playoff tie on Thursday evening.
The game at the Toumba Stadium remained goalless in the first half, with both sides unable to find the breakthrough despite creating opportunities.
Brann eventually took the lead in the 67th minute through Kristian Eriksen, putting the visitors in front and giving PAOK a difficult task in the closing stages.
Baba Rahman was introduced from the bench and made an immediate impact, scoring in the 80th minute to bring PAOK level.
The Ghanaian’s late goal ensured the Greek side avoided defeat at home and kept the tie finely poised ahead of the return fixture.
PAOK will now travel to Norway for the second leg, with both teams needing a win to secure their place in the next round.
The decisive second leg will be played on August 27 at the Brann Stadion.
