Ghanaian international Kwame Poku has scooped the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for October, making it back-to-back successes.
Poku, who has already capped for Ghana at the U20 level, clinched the prestigious monthly accolade for the second time in a row following another impressive month of action for Peterborough United FC.
The 23-year-old has been a standout performer in the English third-tier league, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 14 appearances in the ongoing season.
Poku expressed his excitement over winning the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award for the second successive time.
“I am obviously delighted to win the award and over the moon to be able to win it back-to-back. I am happy with how things have been going, and it is all about hard work and trying to be as consistent as I can,” Poku told the club's official website.
“While I didn’t score as many goals last month as the previous one, I am just as happy creating goals as scoring them. Hopefully I can keep those numbers strong during the month of November!”
Poku attracted interest from several English Championship clubs, including Luton Town, Norwich City, and Watford FC, among others.
Kwame Poku has been a real threat to our opponents, Darren Ferguson says
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson applauded the talented winger for clinching another Player of the Month Award.
“It is a fantastic achievement for Kwame to win back-to-back Player of the Month awards and is wonderful recognition for the way that he has performed,” he said.
“He has followed up his form in September with another strong month in October and has been a real threat. He continues to create and score goals for us and is in a really good place at the minute.”
Peterborough United will welcome Cambridge United to the Western Homes Stadium as the two sides meet for the first time this season in League One this weekend.
