The Ghanaian attacking midfielder has joined the Belgian second division side on a short-term loan deal until the end of the 2023/24 football league season

Belgian Challenger Pro League club FCV Dender EH have signed Ghanaian youth star Desmond Acquah on loan from elite division side Oud-Heverlee Leuven , the club have confirmed.

The 21-year-old is joining the Van Roystadion campaigners from the Leuven-based club U23 youth team, with both parties agreed to make the contractual obligations terms permanent if he is able to live up to his billings at end of the ongoing campaign.

"Today, 21-year-old Desmond Acquah signed a commitment to stay with our club until the end of this season. He comes over from OH Leuven on a loan basis.Desmond, 1m73 - °23 July 2002, received his youth training at Vilvoorde, Diegem and OHL. He signed his first professional contract with Leuven in 2022. Before New Year he played in his first national competition with OHL-B. He has already played 17 games there, scored twice as an offensive midfielder and also provided two assists. He is a technically strong offensive midfielder who is also praised for his good passing.

His contract with OH Leuven will be up on June 30, 2026 and as per his current market valuation by transfermarkt, his new employers must fork out €100,000  to be able to land him from his mother club.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, he remains eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana on the international stage as he is yet to be capped by the Belgium national team.
