Belgian top-flight side St Truiden have confirmed the departure of Ghanaian forward Joselpho Barnes after opting not to renew his contract, which expires at the end of June 2025.

The 23-year-old will now become a free agent after two seasons with the club, during which he saw limited playing time. Barnes, who has represented Ghana at both U20 and U23 levels, is expected to assess new opportunities as he looks to reignite his career.

Born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, Barnes developed through the youth systems of SpVgg Ingelbach, VfL Leverkusen, and Fortuna Köln, before completing his development at Schalke 04. He made his senior debut with Schalke II in 2020 but left the club a year later after contract negotiations broke down.

He went on to have short stints with Belgian outfit Virton and Latvian club Riga FC, where he impressed with 7 goals and 4 assists in 29 appearances. That form earned him a move to St Truiden in 2023.

Barnes is the son of former Ghana international Sebastian Barnes and was a key member of the Ghana U20 team that won the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
