Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has suffered a serious knee injury and could miss the remainder of the ongoing season and also the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 

The 26-year-old picked the injury in AS Monaco’s 1-3 home loss to Olympique Lyon over the weekend in a thrilling round 17 clash of the French Ligue 1. 

After assessment by AS Monaco doctors, the club have confirmed the lanky defender has tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and could miss the rest of the season. 

Official club statement from the club reads; 

“At the very end of the match against Olympique Lyonnais, our centre-back Mohammed Salisu suffered an injury to his left knee. Medical examinations revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

“The Club will support Mohammed throughout his recovery and is behind him all the way. Stay strong, Sarki, we're with you.” 

Mohammed Salisu has made 18 matches in all competitions this season for the Red-Whites so far.
