The ex-Accra Lions rearguard has penned a fresh term over extension with the Swedish top division campaigners as his new deal is set to come to a close in December this year

Ghanaian defender Nasiru Moro has signed a one-year contract extension with Swedish Allsvenskan side Degerfors IF, the club have confirmed.

The 29-year-old centre-back lived up to his expectations at the Stora Valla Stadium during the 2024/25 season and such fabulous performances have now aided in securing a fresh term ahead of the start of the new Swedish Championship campaign.

A statement over the contract extension of the former Örebro SK man reads: ''Degerfors IF has agreed with center back Nasiru Moro on a contract extension. The new contract extends through 2026.

''Nasiru Moro came to Degerfors IF as a Bosman for the 2024 season and since then he has made 36 official appearances in the red and white shirt. The 29-year-old Ghanaian was responsible for several important contributions in the back line in 2025, where the away matches against Hammarby and Malmö FF perhaps stand out a little more.

''Moro and Degerfors IF have now agreed on a contract extension that will be valid until the end of December 2026. He will be present during tomorrow's premiere training in Stora Halla and is looking forward to getting started in earnest.''

Moro said to his club's official website: ''I want to thank the coaching staff and the sporting management for believing in me. I look forward to putting in the work required to help the team improve.''

Sporting director Patrik Werner added: ''It feels good that Moro is staying with us. Last year I thought he developed a lot and made several strong contributions in the back line. He is a very nice guy who contributes both on and off the field.''

He is yet to earn his international cap with the Ghana Men's Senior National Team, the Black Stars.
