Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew, expressed gratitude towards Le Havre Athletic Club for their patient and supportive approach during his comeback after an extended absence.
The 33-year-old striker praised the club for allowing him the necessary time to regain form, a sentiment he shared after scoring a brace in Le Havre's thrilling 3-3 draw against Lorient in the French Ligue 1.
Ayew, who netted a header and a spectacular late bicycle kick in the game, highlighted his appreciation for the club's understanding during his recovery period as a free agent.
Reflecting on his journey back to peak performance, Ayew acknowledged the challenges he faced, including a minor injury and disruptions caused by the AFCON.
Expressing his thanks to the team for providing him with crucial playing time before the tournament, he said, “I played a few matches and then there was the AFCON, and I also had a small injury that affected how I wanted to get along. I thank the team for taking their time with me and giving me a run of matches before the AFCON."
Ayew returned to the team on Saturday and made a significant impact by scoring goals that secured a point in the draw against Lorient. Le Havre currently holds the 11th position in the 18-team league standings.
