Ghanaian rising star Joshua Quarshie has taken a significant step forward in his football journey, securing a loan move to Fortuna Dusseldorf from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

The German-born defender's transfer to the Bundesliga 2 side is seen as a crucial development in his career, with no purchase option attached to the deal.

Quarshie had previously left a lasting impression on Fortuna's football landscape during his stint with the youth team in the 2019/20 season. His return to familiar grounds is expected to further solidify his position within the Fortuna family.

The young defender brings substantial experience to Fortuna, boasting 45 appearances for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's regional league team. His journey extends beyond the domestic stage, having been included in Hoffenheim's extended professional squad and making a noteworthy appearance in the Bundesliga in 2022.

Klaus Allofs, Director of Sports & Communications, expressed optimism about the loan deal, emphasizing Quarshie's talent as a central defender and the potential benefits for both teams.

“Joshua Quarshie is a junior national player and has a lot of talent as a central defender. We have shown in the past how well we can develop players. That's why we were able to convince Hoffenheim of our interest and loan Joshua for one and a half seasons. I am sure that all parties will benefit from the loan," said Allofs.

Fortuna Dusseldorf's sports director, Christian Weber, praised Quarshie's outstanding athletic abilities and expressed delight in welcoming another talented German player to Fortuna, especially given the team's focus on strengthening their central defense following a recent injury.
