Ghana defender Kingsley Schindler scored a crucial goal on Saturday, propelling Samsunspor to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Göztepe in a pulsating Turkish Super Lig clash at Samsun Yeni 19 Mayıs Stadyumu.
The Round 7 match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams exchanging leads multiple times throughout the contest.
Samsunspor had a rocky start as Zeki Yavru’s own goal in the 13th minute gifted Göztepe an early advantage. Marius Mouandilmadji equalized in the 28th minute, but Romulo Cruz quickly restored Göztepe's lead just before halftime, making it 2-1.
Göztepe then extended their lead to 3-1 in the 50th minute through Juan. However, Samsunspor mounted a stunning comeback in the second half. Olivier Ntcham reduced the deficit to 3-2 in the 70th minute with a goal assisted by Marc Bola.
In a pivotal moment, Kingsley Schindler leveled the score at 3-3 in the 79th minute, converting a cross from Yavru. The decisive moment came in stoppage time when Ntcham netted his second goal of the match, sealing a dramatic 4-3 victory for Samsunspor.
Looking ahead, Samsunspor will face Adana Demirspor on October 6, where Schindler is expected to play a key role.
Schindler was recently included in the Black Stars' squad, having sat on the bench during Ghana's 1-0 defeat to Angola and the 1-1 draw against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
He will be aiming to secure a spot in the squad for the important upcoming matches against Sudan in October.
