Werder Bremen delivered a dominant 4-1 victory over Union Berlin in Bundesliga Round 15 at the Weserstadion, with German-Ghanaian defender Derrick Köhn playing a pivotal role in the win.
Köhn’s creativity from the left flank proved crucial as he provided two key assists in the match. Bremen opened the scoring early, with Marco Grüll heading home Romano Schmid's cross in the 13th minute. Just four minutes later, Köhn delivered a pinpoint pass to set up Grüll for his second goal, doubling Bremen's lead.
Union Berlin briefly fought back, pulling one back in the 23rd minute when András Schäfer converted Tom Rothe's cross. However, Bremen quickly regained control.
Köhn’s second assist came just before halftime when he curled in a perfect cross for Mitchell Weiser, who finished from close range to make it 3-1. Jens Stage completed the scoring in the 87th minute, finishing off a setup from Marvin Ducksch to seal the win.
The victory improves Bremen's head-to-head record against Union Berlin to three wins. Köhn, who now has two goals and two assists this season, will look to maintain his form as Bremen prepare for a tough challenge against RB Leipzig on January 12th.
