French Ligue 1 club RC Lens have announced the signing of Burkina Faso international Herve Koffi from Royal Charleroi SC.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper joins the Blood and Gold on a long term contract, with details of the deal undisclosed.
Koffi will be a teammate to Ghanaian midfielder Salis Abdul Samed at Lens. Koffi joins as a backup goalkeeper to the current number one Brice Samba - who is currently representing France at EURO 2024.
Playing in the North of France isn't new for Koffi as he was previously in the books for Lille OSC where he made a handful of appearances for the club during his first two years at the Stade Pierre Mauroy before he was then sent on loan to B-SAD and Royal Excel Mouscron.
Those loans in Portugal and Belgium, respectively, put Koffi in the shop window for Charleroi where the goalkeeper had spent the past three years making 96 appearances for the club.
Lens were, however, quick to pounce on the Burkinabe safest-pair-of-hands as he came to the tail end of his contract in Charleroi, and they are confident that he will help reinforce the goalkeeping department.
