FC Nordsjaelland young midfielder Caleb Yerenkyi delivered a standout performance in the Black Stars' shirt in his maiden game against Nigeria on Wednesday night.

The budding talented enforcer deployed as a right back by the Black Stars technical team after the first half as a replacement for Medeama SC's Kamaradini Mamdu.

Despite being unfamiliar with the role, the 19-year-old was an outstanding player in the second half making timely interceptions and tracking runs effectively, frustrating the backline of the Nigerians.

Yerenkyi's precise passing stood out, contributing to a smoother build-up from the back and helping Ghana dominate stretches of the second half of game.

His positional sense and calmness under pressure provided balance in a much-improved display by the Black Stars after the recess, leading to the consolation goal scored by Brandon Thomas-Asante in the 70th minute.

Yerenkyi has so far netted two goals and provided two assists in 17 matches for FC Nordsjaelland in the Danish Super Liga.

He has been tipped as the next big thing in European football since leaving the shores of Ghana in 2024 to join FC Nordsjaelland from the famous Ghanaian based Right to Dream Academy.
