One of Ghana’s brightest young midfielders, Lawrence Agyekum, is attracting serious attention from some of Europe’s top clubs — and Dutch giants Feyenoord are reportedly leading the pack.
The 21-year-old, who currently plays for Belgian side Cercle Brugge, has been in excellent form this season, impressing scouts with his calmness on the ball, intelligence in midfield, and impressive work ethic.
Now, with the transfer window approaching, multiple clubs from Germany, France, and Belgium have joined the race for Agyekum's signature.
Feyenoord are said to be preparing a bid, as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of European competition next season. But they’ll have to fight off interest from other top club's who’ve also been tracking the Ghanaian gem.
“Lawrence has interest from several clubs. Feyenoord is very keen, but there are more teams involved,” a close source told Kickgh.com's Pascal Amoah. “A move this summer is possible — depending on what Brugge decides.”
Agyekum, who started his football journey at WAFA SC, made a big step when he joined FC Liefering, Red Bull Salzburg’s feeder club, before earning his promotion to the senior side. His performances in the Austrian Bundesliga within a space of two seasons drew huge praise, with many tipping him as one of the next big exports from Ghana.
European scouts see him as a modern-day box-to-box midfielder — composed, energetic, and tactically sharp. For Ghanaian fans, many believe it's only a matter of time before he cements a place in the Black Stars setup.
Cercle Brugge, known for producing and selling top talents, won’t let Agyekum go cheaply. But with big clubs circling, a serious offer could tempt them into a deal.
