Black Stars youngster Caleb Yirenkyi provided an assist as Coventry City defeated AS Monaco 2-0 in their final pre-season game ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Sky Blues secured the victory at the Coventry Building Society Arena, with Ellis Simms opening the scoring in the 12th minute.
Yirenkyi, who joined Coventry City during the current transfer window, then played a key role in the second goal with a fine pass to French international Loum Tchaouna, who doubled the lead in the 32nd minute.
The Ghanaian midfielder was handed a place in Frank Lampard’s starting lineup as he continued his preparations for the new campaign.
Yirenkyi remained on the pitch until the 65th minute before making way for Gustavo Hamer as Lampard made changes to his side.
Having already featured in four matches for former club FC Nordsjaelland this season, Yirenkyi has quickly built up match fitness ahead of the new campaign.
The Ghana international will now turn his attention to Coventry’s first Premier League game in 25 years when they face reigning champions Arsenal on Friday, August 21.
