Canadian-born Ghanaian attacker Stephen Afrifa-Kodua came off the bench to score his first-ever Major League Soccer goal for Sporting Kansas City against LA Galaxy on Sunday morning.

Sporting Kansas City suffered a 4-2 away defeat to LA Galaxy in a crunchy encounter at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

Dejan Joveljic opened the scoring for LA Galaxy with a fine strike in the 40th minute before Gabriel Pec doubled their lead, just nine minutes after the break.

Canadian-born of Ghanaian descent Stephen Afrifa pulled one back for the visitors with a cool finish in the 66th minute of the game.

Painstil restored the two-goal lead for the homesters when he brilliantly slotted a pass from Gabriel Pec in the 75th minute. 

Robert Castellanos reduced the deficit once again for Sporting Kansas City in the 82nd minute but a late strike from Miguel Berry ended the match in a 4-2 win for LA Galaxy.

Stephen Afrifa-Kodua, who is eligible to represent either Canada or Ghana at any level, has made 10 MLS appearances with a goal to his credit.
