Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil climbed off the bench to score in LA Galaxy 4-2 home victory over Sporting Kansas City in the Major League Soccer on Sunday morning.

Paintsil, who has been out of action for the past weeks due to injury, returned to the LA Galaxy match-day squad list against Sporting Kansas City at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

Following the injury, the former KRC Genk attacker missed Ghana's 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic earlier this month.

Dejan Joveljic opened the scoring for LA Galaxy with a fine strike in the 40th minute before Gabriel Pec doubled their lead, just nine minutes after the break.

Canadian-born of Ghanaian descent Stephen Afrifa pulled one back for the visitors with a cool finish in the 66th minute of the game.

Painstil restored the two-goal lead for the homesters when he brilliantly slotted a pass from Gabriel Pec in the 75th minute.

Robert Castellanos reduced the deficit once again for Sporting Kansas City in the 82nd minute but a late strike from Miguel Berry ended the match in a 4-2 win for LA Galaxy.

Painstil has now scored five goals and provided four assists in 14 MLS appearances for LA Galaxy in this season's campaign.
