Former Ghana midfielder Charles Asampong Taylor has emphasized the importance of dedication for young talent David Oduro as he embarks on his journey with Barcelona.
Taylor's advice comes as Oduro, who recently signed a three-year deal with Barca Atletic, the club's B team, is still vying for his opportunity to shine in the first team.
Despite training with both the first team and youth side, Oduro has yet to make his debut for the Catalan giants. Recently, he was seen enjoying a TikTok moment with former teammate Evans Botchway, sharing insights about his training experiences at Barcelona.
Taylor, who had a successful career in the Ghana Premier League with Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, urged Oduro to avoid distractions and focus on his training. “You shouldn’t have the mentality that you are playing for Barcelona B, that’s it. The Barcelona B team is even more difficult. It’s challenging because they rely on the B team for quality players for the first team,” he stated on Angel TV.
While expressing excitement over Oduro’s move to Barcelona, Taylor stressed the importance of seeing young players transition to the first team. “They should stop making videos at this stage and remain focused because that is the most important thing,” he added.
Oduro, along with Dreams FC winger Aziz Issah, made the jump to Barcelona directly from the Ghana Premier League.
