Liverpool has reportedly earmarked Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo as a potential forward addition for the upcoming season.

Although the Reds have only played 10 matches under new manager Arne Slot, they are already laying plans for their transfer strategy next year.

According to GiveMeSport, the six-time Champions League winners have identified the Bournemouth attacker as a prospective key signing. However, Liverpool faces competition from both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, who are also interested in the 24-year-old.

A significant hurdle in this potential transfer is Bournemouth's reluctance to part with another talented forward so soon after allowing Dominic Solanke to join Spurs. It would likely require a substantial bid to convince the Cherries to sell Semenyo.

Transfermarkt currently values the winger at €20 million (£16.8 million), and he is contracted with Bournemouth until 2029.

Semenyo has enjoyed a solid start to the season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in seven Premier League matches. His Bournemouth teammate Lewis Cook praised his abilities, stating he has "all the ability in the world" (BBC Sport).

What sets Semenyo apart is his versatility; he can play anywhere across the forward line, although his preferred position is on the right wing—currently occupied at Liverpool by Mohamed Salah.

The former Bristol City player continues to show improvement year after year, having scored eight Premier League goals last season and on track to surpass that tally this time around.

Statistically, Semenyo is averaging 4.4 shots, one key pass, and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes, along with earning 1.3 fouls per match, all impressive numbers for an attacker playing for a mid-table team.

This season, his three Premier League goals place him behind only Luis Diaz and Salah at Liverpool, outscoring Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Núñez in the process. While he has had more playing time than those three Reds forwards, his performance demonstrates his impressive form.

Although it remains uncertain if he is ready to start for a club of Liverpool's caliber, there is no doubt about his talent. At this point, he may be seen as more of a bench option rather than an immediate impact player for Arne Slot’s side.

With Salah's contract at Anfield set to expire next summer, Semenyo could emerge as a viable successor in Liverpool's forward lineup.
