Former West Ham star Joe Cole has showered praise on Mohammed Kudus after the summer signing scored his debut goal for the club in their 3-1 Europa League victory over Backa Topola.

Kudus earned his first start since his £38 million summer transfer from Dutch giants Ajax, and he played a crucial role in West Ham's comeback after Petar Stanic gave the Serbian visitors a surprise lead.

In the 66th minute, Kudus applied pressure at the back post, resulting in Nemanja Petrovic turning Said Benrahma's cross into his own net. Kudus completed the turnaround just four minutes later, heading in a James Ward-Prowse corner.

Former West Ham star Joe Cole, speaking on TNT Sports, praised Kudus's performance and believes the forward will be a valuable addition to David Moyes' West Ham team.

"He [Kudus] looked like he was happy and settled," Cole commented. "He is another weapon for David Moyes. I look at this team, and I see goals everywhere. It was a great night for West Ham."

Kudus's first goal for West Ham brings his tally to five goals in six games for the season, following his five goals for Ajax before his move to London Stadium. The 23-year-old has demonstrated his quality in European competitions, scoring nine goals in 18 games across the Champions League and Europa League.

Kudus will now be pushing for his first Premier League start when West Ham faces Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
