Arsenal have officially confirmed that contract negotiations are underway with Ghana international Thomas Partey as the club plans a significant squad reshuffle ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Partey’s current contract is set to expire on June 30, 2025, fueling months of speculation over his long-term future at the Emirates. However, the midfielder’s name appeared on Arsenal’s retained list this week, accompanied by confirmation from the club that discussions over a new deal are ongoing.

“The following players’ contracts also expire on June 30, 2025. Discussions are ongoing, and once matters are finalised between all parties, we will communicate in due course: Chloe Kelly, Thomas Partey, Michal Rosiak,” a statement on the club’s website read.

The 31-year-old enjoyed one of his best seasons in an Arsenal shirt in 2024/25, making 52 appearances across all competitions—his highest tally since joining the Gunners from Atlético Madrid in 2020. Partey contributed four goals and three assists, playing a vital role in Mikel Arteta’s midfield as the club mounted strong challenges in both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

His resurgence has convinced the Arsenal hierarchy of his continued value to the squad, and they are keen to retain his experience and influence as part of Arteta’s long-term project.

While talks continue with Partey and other select players, Arsenal also confirmed the departure of several senior squad members whose contracts will not be renewed. Raheem Sterling, Kieran Tierney, Neto, and Jorginho are among those set to leave the club this summer as part of a broader squad overhaul.

The upcoming transfer window is expected to be pivotal for the Gunners, with Arteta aiming to strengthen key areas and build a side capable of reclaiming the Premier League title and advancing further in Europe. Partey’s future will be one of several key decisions shaping Arsenal’s plans for the season ahead.
