Ghanaian winger Bernard Somuah will continue his development in Spain after officially extending his loan spell at La Liga side RC Celta Vigo from Asante Kotoko for one more season.
The new agreement, confirmed by both clubs, includes an option for Celta to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Somuah, who initially joined Celta Vigo's youth setup on loan from Asante Kotoko in August 2024, impressed the Spanish side’s technical team with his pace, direct play, and ability to create chances from wide areas. His performances have earned him a continued role in Celta's plans for the upcoming season, especially with the club focusing on nurturing young talent for their first team and B team squads.
Somuah featured 29 times for Celta B this season in the Primera Federacion and scored 5 goals, assisting 4 times with 21 chances created m, 47 successful dribbles and 83% pass accuracy.
Somuah featured prominently for Celta Vigo B
in the Spanish third tier (Primera Federación), where he became a regular starter under coach Claudio Giráldez. His dynamic play on the wings and growing tactical awareness contributed to Celta B’s strong finish in the league, narrowly missing out on promotion playoff spots.
The 20-year-old’s growth has not gone unnoticed, and with Celta Vigo keen on securing his long-term future, the loan extension is expected to serve as a final evaluation before triggering a potential full transfer.
Back in Ghana, Kotoko have expressed satisfaction with Somuah’s progress, and sources indicate that the Porcupine Warriors are open to a permanent transfer if Celta meets the agreed conditions.
Somuah, who is also eligible for Ghana’s U-23 team, is seen as one of the most promising exports from Kotoko’s youth system in recent years. His continued presence in Europe adds to a growing list of young Ghanaians making waves in Spanish football.
The 2025/26 season will be a crucial one for Somuah, who will be hoping to break into Celta Vigo’s senior side or secure a long-term contract in Europe.
