The talented teenage sensation of Ghanaian parentage has revealed talks of fresh terms over extension between his representative and boyhood club ahead of the summer window
Danish-born Ghanaian teen Jonathan Agyekum has confirmed talks of contract extension with Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF.
The 19-year-old wonderkid, who is currently with the U19 youth ranks, has been splendid for his side so far this season and such efforts have now triggered fears among those nurturing his talent given the admiring glances being shot at him by suitors as his current deal is set to expire on June 30, 2025.
Nonetheless, the Brøndby Stadium campaigners are now set to tie him down to a long-term contract as they bid to ward off any interested club for vying his services going forward.
Agyekum said Brøndby IF is a good club that mean a lot to him as he reveals contract extension talks between both of his representatives over a fresh term in the summer.
''Yes, I've heard a little, and there have been some talks between my agent and the club, but it hasn't been completely concrete in terms of what it would be,'' the teenager said of his current contract situation in an interview with Tipsbladet. ''Right now I don't actually know that much. Right now I'm just concentrating on playing and then I'll leave the rest to my agen.'' he added.
He continued: ''It's a bit difficult to say. Of course I'm happy to play in Brøndby, because it's a good club that means a lot to me. But as I said, I don't really know what's going to happen. There's been some talk about extending, but I'll let my agent take care of that, and then I'll concentrate on playing. Yes, if it turns into an extension, I would like it.''
He has so far been involved in 22 games by scoring 9 goals and assisting 4 for Brøndby lF U19 side across all competitions in this 2024-25 campaign.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, Agyekum remains fit to play for Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Denmark U19 national youth team.
