The German fourth-tier outfit have announced the signing of the ex-VfB Stuttgart midfield enforcer, with the 26-year-old set to figure prominently for his new employers next season
Ghanaian midfielder Hans Nunoo Sarpei has joined Regionalliga Südwest side SG Barockstadt on a one-year deal, the club have confirmed.
The former Greuther Fürth man, who was unattached with any club since leaving Finnish elite division side HJK Helsinki during the winter window, is linking up with the German lower division campaigners on a free transfer for the 2025-26 football season.
''SG Barockstadt is pleased to announce the signing of Nunoo Sarpei. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder from Ghana will join the Föllschenelf team starting this summer.''
''Sarpei was recently without a club for six months, but previously gained valuable experience at renowned clubs such as HJK Helsinki, FC Ingolstadt, Greuther Fürth, and VfB Stuttgart. His career includes 10 Bundesliga appearances, 58 second-division appearances, and 30 third-division appearances. Sarpei has signed a contract until June 30, 2026,'' an official confirmation over Sarpei's capturing read.
Right after appending his signature to the deal, the former Liberty Professionals U19 youth star had this to say via the club's official website: ''During these difficult times, I always believed in this moment and worked hard for it. Now I want to come back even stronger and show what I'm capable of. I'm grateful for the opportunity and highly motivated to achieve something special with SG Barockstadt. I carry the hopes of all those who believed in me – the coaches, teammates, and management. I will give my all to repay this trust and show people that my story doesn't end here.''
Sporting director Christian Geisendörfer added: ''With Nunoo Sarpei, we're gaining a player in the number 6 position who will benefit our game with his experience and style. Sarpei is having a robust experience in football competitions following spells with HJK Helsinki, FC Ingolstadt, Greuther Fürth and VfB Stuttgart so far in his footballing career.
He is yet to be cap-tied by the Ghana Senior Men's National Team at the international level.
