The attacking midfielder of Ghanaian heritage has penned fresh terms over an extension with Die Schwaben, with his new deal set to take him through to 2028 at the MHP Arena

Danish-Ghanaian midfielder Nikolas Nartey has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract extension with Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart, the club have confirmed.

With his existing contract set to expire this summer, the former FC Copenhagen U19 star has now extended his stay with his current German employers beyond the upcoming summer transfer window.

A statement confirming his contract extension read: ''The club from Cannstatt and the 26-year-old have extended their contract. The new agreement is valid until June 30, 2028.

''Nikolas Nartey will continue to wear white and red. The 26-year-old midfielder has extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart, reaffirming his commitment to the club he has been with since 2019. His new contract now runs until June 30, 2028. After a lengthy injury layoff, Nartey fought his way back last season – this season he has made 37 appearances for VfB across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing four assists. He also made his debut for the Danish national team in March 2026.''

The Ghana-prospect midfielder has told his club's official website: ''I feel very comfortable at VfB. Everything here fits together perfectly: I get to be part of a strong team, I'm coached by an excellent coaching staff who focus on the development of us as a team as well as of each individual player – and I constantly experience the power and support that the VfB fans give us. I'm happy that the contract extension went through and I'm looking forward to continuing the journey with our team.”

Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth added: As is well known, Nikolas Nartey's journey at VfB was anything but easy for a long time due to injuries. We are all the more pleased that Niko has developed into a stable and important factor within our team in recent months. Niko can provide important impetus for our game in various positions, which is why extending his contract was a logical step for us. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Niko."

Nartey has so far played in 37 appearances by racking up 3 goals and assisting 4 for VfB across all competitions in this current football season.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Copenhagen-born midfielder remains eligible to represent Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Denmark national football team, with one cap to his name.
