Ghanaian centre-back Jerome Opoku was sent off as FC Arouca fired a 1-1 draw against Chaves in the Portuguese Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Chaves took an early lead through Steven Vitória as he nicked-in the penalty before João Basso equalised with a penalty on the 79th minute for the Arouquenses at the Estádio Municipal Eng. Manuel Branco Teixeira.
Opoku was dismissed in the 93rd minute for laying a Sliding tackle on 73-shirted Bernardo Sousa. A VAR check found Opoku's challenge to be a cynical one, however, and the referee added a red after showing him a yellow card.
The lanky 24-year-old has featured in 14 games this season as Arouca lurks on the 7th spot of the Primeira Liga.
