The Swedish top division club have addressed the speculation linking the 30-year-old to their side for a reunion in the just-ended transfer window in Sweden

Djurgården lF sporting director Bosse Andersson has said his outfit never had it a thought to re-sign Ghana international defender Daniel Amartey ahead of the 2025-26 football season in the Swedish top-flight.

The ex-FC Copenhagen defender, who spent time with The Blue Stripes during the 2013/2014 season, was heavily linked with a reunion with the Tele2 Arena campaigners as he's currently in the free agency pool since leaving Turkish giants Beşiktaş SK during the summer of 2024.

ln addressing the speculation prior to the closure of the transfer window on Tuesday, DIF sporting director Andersson said such move was never an option for his side as they currently have the men at their defensive department to execute the task on the field of play when the new football season begins later this month.

The Swede football administrator, who was a guest on Fotbollskanalen's deadline day broadcast on Tuesday said: ''No, I can't directly say that we have done that. There has been a lot of speculation about that. We are very happy with our back line.''

He added: ''We have (Mikael) Marques who is coming back and Marcus Danielson who I think will have a really good season. In addition to that we have (Jacob) Une and Miro (Tenho), and other options. It hasn't been a position where we've been chasing players either.''

The former lnter Allies defender has so far had spells with Djurgården lF, FC Copenhagen, Leicester City and Beşiktaş since he started plying his football trade in abroad for over a decade now.

He currently boasts of 55 caps with the Ghana Senior Men's National Team, the Black Stars on the international stage.
