The man on the touchline at the Tannadice Park has said the 21-year-old Ghanaian starlet would not be under the knife after sustaining a knee sprain before last month's international break

Scottish Premiership side Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin has revealed that Ghana international winger Emmanuel Agyei would need no surgery after picking up a knee injury during a training session in September.

The former Dreams FC attacking midfielder was initially feared to have suffered from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), but scan tests proved otherwise.

However, on sharing insight over the Ghanaian youngster's injury setback, the man who oversees his footballing career at the Dundee-based club currently, says the former FC Ashdod man is going to be on a ''gradual rehab programme'' and ''can’t put a timescale on it right now'' with regards to his recovery.

Speaking in an interview, the lrish gaffer has told Scottish national tabloid newspaper The Daily Record: ''Agyei is not out with us. He needs a little bit of time. We have given him time with his family to go and be with them for a few days. It is a knee injury, but it is not as bad as first feared. We initially all feared the worst. It didn’t look good in training. He went for the scans and I pleased to say there is no surgery needed at this moment in time.

''It is just going to be a gradual rehab programme that he will be on. I can’t put a timescale on it right now. It is not an ACL where it is season over or anything like that. His leg is in a brace. It will be weeks rather than months.

''He couldn’t do anthing initially until the swelling went down and we were able to get it scanned. That is why we have given him time off.”

Before he sustained the knee injury, he featured in 8 appearances by netting once across all competitions for The Tangerines in this current 2026/27 football season.

On the international stage, Agyei has so far won 1 cap for the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars.
