Holstein Kiel had taken the lead just 15 minutes into the game through Benedikt Pichler.
In the 35th minute, Bochum fell behind again as Lukas Daschner found the back of the net after being set up by Philipp Hofmann. Despite Bochum's efforts to secure a win, a late equalizer from Shuto Machino in the 89th minute salvaged a vital point for Holstein Kiel.
