Jayden Addai announced himself to Serie A in spectacular fashion, scoring a debut goal that sealed a dramatic 2-1 comeback win for Como against Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi on Sunday.

The Dutch-born forward, who is eligible to represent Ghana, was introduced in the 61st minute and wasted little time in altering the game’s course. Picking up a pass from Nico Paz, the 20-year-old twisted past his marker before rifling a low shot beyond David de Gea to send the travelling Como supporters into raptures.

Fiorentina had earlier gone ahead through Rolando Mandragora’s composed first-half finish, but Como hauled themselves level after the break when Marc-Oliver Kempf rose highest to head home Paz’s precise delivery.

The drama intensified when Como thought they had a penalty, only for VAR to overturn the decision. Yet it was Addai who ultimately stole the show, his poise and power in the box earning him the Man of the Match award on just his second league outing in the Italian top flight.
