Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly have loaned out newly signed striker Samuel Oppong to Egyptian Second Division WE Sports Club (Telecom Egypt) for the rest of the season.

The silky dangler was part of five Ghanaian players who underwent trials recently at Al Ahly in light of the club’s strategy to search for African talents and benefit from them.

But it was Samuel Oppong and Reindorf Adom Sarbah who impressed club legend and head of the youth sector Walid Soliman as well as Badr Ragab, the youth team's technical director.

Samuel Oppong, who is a natural goal poacher, joined Al Ahly from EurAfrica FC - signing a four-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

However, the striker will be hoping to continue his development and nail down a starting place in the Cairo-based side, as he becomes the club’s third winter signing.

The young chap will now be tasked with helping fire TEG to the top four of the League as they are currently sitting 13th in the 20-team's table having taken only 24 points after 19 games.

TEG most recently defeated relegation dwelling Nogoom FC 1-0 at home on Monday, 29th January, 2024, with Mohammed Bahaa scoring the only goal in the 55th minute.

Led by former Egypt international Gomaa Mashour, TEG have several well-known names in their squad, including former Al Ahly players Ahmed Nabil Manga, Mohamed Shahin, and Mahmoud El-Gharabawy.
