Egyptian Premier League club Modern Sport Club has officially signed 19-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Frederick Kessie from Accra Lions, marking a significant career move for the young talent.
Kessie, who joined Accra Lions in January 2023 from Sefwi All Stars, made a strong impression during the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, making 15 appearances and playing a crucial role in Lions' second-place finish.
After successful negotiations between the two clubs, Kessie has signed a three-year contract with Modern SC, who are aiming to bolster their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season following their fifth-place finish last year.
Kessie’s move to Egypt is seen as a key step in his development. He was also an integral part of Ghana's U20 national team, the Black Satellites, helping them secure the gold medal at the 13th African Games earlier this year.
With his dynamic playmaking abilities and consistency, Kessie is considered one of the rising stars in African football.
