Ghanaian striker Jalal Abdulai experienced a rollercoaster evening as Elfsborg drew 1-1 with Rijeka in the UEFA Europa League Qualification Round 3 on Thursday.
Abdulai kicked off the match in style, netting the opening goal for Elfsborg in the 25th minute. His well-placed right-footed shot from the center of the box, set up by Arbër Zeneli, gave the Swedish side an early advantage.
However, the striker's night took a downturn when he received a second yellow card for a foul in the 56th minute, leading to a red card and an early exit from the game.
Despite being down to 10 men, Elfsborg held on until stoppage time of the first half when Rijeka's Niko Galesic equalized from a Niko Jankovic pass.
Ghanaian teammates Michael Baidoo and Terry Yegbe also featured in the match, with Baidoo playing 78 minutes and Yegbe completing the full 90.
Elfsborg will now shift their focus to their upcoming Swedish Allsvenskan match against GAIS on August 11.
