The 25-year-old former Hamburger SV man is currently a subject of transfer target of MLS side St. Louis City SC, with a report from Sky suggesting the two parties have already agreed personal terms ahead of a possible deal in the near future.

That notwithstanding, those in charge of the Fritz-Walter-Stadion have made their intention clear of keeping their winger albeit the strong interest being expressed in his services by the aforementioned suitors as he is unwilling to extend his deal when it expires in the summer window.

''We don't want to weaken the squad either, so we don't have to give up the player,'' the club's chief is quoted as saying by German sports magazine Kicker

Opoku has so far netted 2 and assisted 3 in 7 league game appearances for FC Kaiserslautern in this current 2. Bundesliga football season.
