Former Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah was in inspired form on Saturday, playing a key role in Al Nasr’s 2–0 victory over Al Ain in the UAE League Cup semi-finals.

The ex-Atlético Madrid midfielder, who joined the Dubai-based club in August 2025, got on the scoresheet to underline his growing influence in a high-stakes encounter.

Al Nasr struck once in each half at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. Mensah opened the scoring in the fifth minute, finishing calmly after being set up by Abdoulaye Touré to give the visitors an early advantage.

Despite their bright start, Al Nasr were unable to overturn the heavy deficit from the first leg. Argentine forward Ramón Miérez doubled the lead in the 65th minute, sealing the night’s victory but not enough to keep Mensah’s side in the competition.

Al Ain had secured a commanding 3–0 win in the first leg, ensuring their progression to the final on aggregate despite Saturday’s defeat.

Mensah was withdrawn in the 82nd minute, with Senegal international Moussa N’Diaye introduced in his place. The former Beşiktaş and Kayserispor midfielder has now made 10 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal since his arrival.

Mensah signed a two-year contract with Al Nasr, which runs until summer 2027. At international level, he made his Black Stars debut in 2015, earning four caps and scoring once before retiring from national team duty.
