Kazakhstan Premier League outfit FK Zhenis Astana have completed the signing of Ghanaian goalkeeper Razak Abalora on a free transfer, following his exit from Albanian side AF Elbasani.

The 28-year-old, who was Elbasani’s undisputed first-choice during the 2024/25 season, made 33 appearances in all competitions, conceding 30 goals while keeping 11 clean sheets — an impressive record for a newly-promoted side. Despite his strong performances, his contract was terminated at the end of the campaign due to internal disagreements.

Abalora, who has four international caps for Ghana, now embarks on a fresh chapter in Kazakhstan, where Zhenis currently sit 7th in the league table. His arrival is expected to bolster their goalkeeping department as the club eyes a strong finish to the season.

The former Asante Kotoko shot-stopper also brings European experience, having previously played for FC Sheriff Tiraspol and FC Petrocub Hincesti in Moldova, featuring in UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
