French Ligue 1 club OGC Nice has reportedly ended their pursuit to secure the signature of the Ghanaian-born Belgian attacker Francis Amuzu in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Amuzu was on the verge of sealing a €10 million switch to the French top-tier club from RSC Anderlecht with medical examination booked for next week.
But the deal has hit snag according to French tabloid Nice-Matin because RSC Anderlecht have decided not to sell the Belgian youth star following Sergio Gómez’s (21) impending €15m transfer to Manchester City.
Gomez's imminent exit from the Lotto Park outfit to Manchester City has forced Anderlecht to end negotiations with OGC Nice.
RSC Anderlecht manager Felice Mazzu has described the 22-year-old forward as an important player in his plan and has no intention to remain him at Lotto Park.
“I clearly want to convince him to stay one more year. I have already spoken to him about it.” Mazzu said after Anderlecht's Europa Conference League win over Paide on Thursday.
Amuzu's contract with RSC Anderlecht will be expiring in the summer of 2024.
