The 25-year-old defender of Ghanaian origin is nearing a transfer switch to the German second division side from the third-tier outfit ahead of the summer transfer window 

German-born Ghanaian defender Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant is on the verge of sealing a move to 2. Bundesliga club SC Paderborn from 3. Bundesliga side FC Energie Cottbus, a report from the German media has indicated.

The former TSG Balingen centre-back, who linked up with Die Lausitzer on a free transfer in the summer of 2025, has now popped up as a transfer target for the potential Bundesliga qualification club this season.

According to Stuttgart-based tabloid Newspaper Stuttgarter Nachrichten, the ex-Stuttgarter Kickers defender is an inch away from joining up with the Home Deluxe Arena campaigners for the 2026/27 football season.

Awortwie-Grant had an impressive outings this term after featuring in 37 appearances for FC Energie Cottbus across all competitions in the just ended campaign.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Tübingen-born defender still remains fit to switch nationality and represent the Ghana national football team on the international stage.
