The German fourth-tier side have handed the 19-year-old teenager of Ghanaian descent his first official deal ahead of the start of the new football season

German-born Ghanaian teenager Aaron Mensah has signed his first professional contract with Regionalliga Nordost club Chemnitzer FC for the 2026/27 campaign, the club have announced.

The promising winger, who linked up with the youth academy of Chemnitzer FC in 2023, has impressed immensely so far this season since being drafted into the first team from the U19 youth ranks during the summer of 2025.

A statement confirming his first professional contract with CFC read: ''Chemnitzer FC continues to rely on homegrown talent Aaron Mensah. The 19-year-old has already accumulated 395 minutes of playing time in the Regionalliga Nordost this season, as well as a further 39 minutes in the Saxony Cup. He will also wear the number 24 jersey for the Sky Blues next season.

''With Aaron Mensah, Chemnitzer FC's second homegrown talent, following Georg Hempel, has been permanently promoted to the professional squad for the upcoming season. This brings the Sky Blues' Regionalliga squad for the 2026/27 season to 13 players.''

The Ghana-prospect budding winger had this to tell his club's official website: ''As a young player, you can hardly ask for more than to sign your first professional contract with such a traditional club and to have the opportunity to develop further in this professional environment. I am overjoyed and also proud that I will be wearing the CFC jersey beyond the summer. Even after my ankle injury in the winter, I always felt that the club continued to believe in me and offered me a clear perspective. I am looking forward to the coming months and want to do everything I can to continue developing and help the team in the best way possible.''

Sporting director Chris Löwe added: ''As a player from our own youth academy, Aaron has made enormous strides in his development over the past few months. Consequently, he has earned increasing playing time in the Regionalliga during the second half of the season and impressed with strong performances. He has also coped remarkably well with the serious injury he suffered at the Indoor Masters tournament at the beginning of the year, which caused him to miss the winter training camp. Aaron is a versatile winger who brings qualities to the team that benefit him, including his attacking play, ball control, and commitment off the ball. He demonstrated this particularly in the final stages of the season. Therefore, we were determined to continue working with him, as we are convinced that he has not yet reached his full potential if he continues to work with such focus and ambition.''

Mensah has so far taken in 27 appearances by netting 6 times for the Sky Blues across all competitions in this current 2025/26 campaign.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Hamburg-born native remains eligible to switch nationality and play for the Ghana national football team at the senior level on the international stage.
