The German third tier campaigners have secured the signature of the 21-year-old winger of Ghanaian descent from their fellow lowly division adversaries ahead of the summer window

German-born Ghanaian winger Kelsey Owusu has joined 3. Liga club FC Saarbrücken from league rivals Rot-Weiss Essen, the club have announced.

The former Hamburger SV youth star is joining the Ludwigsparkstadion outfit on a free transfer after exhausting his contract with RWE this summer.

ln announcing the deal with the Ghana-prospect youngster, Die Molschder have said via their club's official website: ''1. FC Saarbrücken has strengthened its squad with the signing of Kelsey Owusu. The attacking player joins from Rot-Weiss Essen and will wear the FCS jersey in the future. Owusu is also the first new signing for FCS for the upcoming season.

''With him, the club gains a versatile player who, despite his young age, has already gained valuable experience in professional football. FC Saarbrücken sees great potential for development in him and considers him an important addition to the squad.''

Owusu had this to say right after putting pen to paper on the deal by telling his club's website: ''I am very much looking forward to my new role at FCS. The talks with the management were very positive from the start and I immediately had the feeling that this step was exactly the right one for me.”

Sporting director Markus Thiele added: ''We are delighted that we were able to sign Kelsey. He brings speed to our game, finds one-on-one solutions in attack, and fits very well into our coach's playing philosophy. He also brings a fresh, positive attitude, which is also good for us."

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Hamburg-born starlet remains eligible to switch nationality and represent Ghana at the senior level on the international stage after playing for the Germany U18 national youth team.
