The 26-year-old winger of Ghanaian descent has appended his signature to fresh terms with the German fouth-tier outfit, with the new deal set to expire in the summer of 2028

German-born Ghanaian winger Phillip Aboagye has signed a two-year contract extension with German Regionalliga Nordost side FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , the club have announced.

The former VfL Bochum youth star together with his team-mate Marco Wolf were handed their new deals following their remarkable outings in this season's football campaign.

A statement confirming the duo contract extension reads: ''Rot-Weiß Erfurt continues to prioritize continuity, securing the services of two key attacking players, Phillip Aboagye and Marco Wolf. While Marco Wolf has extended his contract by another year until summer 2027 , Phillip Aboagye will remain with Rot-Weiß Erfurt until summer 2028 .

''Since their transfer in the summer of 2024, Aboagye and Wolf have quickly integrated into the team and provided important impetus to the attacking play. While Marco Wolf has consistently been one of the key players in the current Regionalliga Nordost season, Phillip Aboagye recently suffered a setback due to injury.

''The versatile attacking player made a total of 28 appearances for Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the 2024/25 season, contributing six goals and four assists. In the current season, the winger made six appearances before a serious knee injury – a torn cruciate ligament, meniscus, and medial collateral ligament – sidelined him.

''Meanwhile, Marco Wolf is impressing as a creative force in central midfield. In the current Regionalliga season, the number 10 has made 22 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing five assists.''

Head coach Fabian Gerber has told his club's official website: ''Marco’s performances this season have been extremely important for us, giving our game a lot of structure and a real goal threat. Phillip already showed what he’s capable of last season. That’s why we’re so pleased that both of them are continuing their journey with us. The contract extensions send a strong signal because they show that the lads believe in the path we’re taking here. It was especially important for us to show faith in Abo during his injury.”

Aboagye is currently nursing an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury and he is expected to return to action on June 30,2026.

Given his Ghanaian heritage, the Dortmund-born wideman still remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage
