The ex-Dreams FC youngster believes he is now more than prepared to test his mettle in the English top-flight after failing trials with the City Ground campaigners in 2024

Ghana and Dundee United FC attacking midfielder Emmanuel Agyei says he now feels ready to play in the Premier League after failing to secure a move to Nottingham Forest as then a teenager with Ghanaian elite side Dreams FC.

The 21-year-old, who joined up with the Scottish Premiership outfit from Israeli Premier League side FC Ashdod during the winter window, has already endeared himself to the club's faithfuls with his impressive displays at the Tannadice Park so far this season.

Given his high-flying performances, the former Ghana U20 star is now oozing with confidence that playing in the English top-flight is something he is looking forward to in order to make a step further over his career as an upcoming youngster.

Speaking in an interview, the nimble left-footed midfielder has told Scottish news outlet The Courier: ''When I was in Ghana I went to Nottingham Forest for trials,” Agyei explained. It is a dream to get to that level again. I am still working on that. I have to play on the big stage. I must play there, that is my dream.

''In Ghana, we were playing in CAF Confederation for Dreams. The whole world was watching those games. I think I showcased in the tournament very well. That was why the Nottingham Forest interest came about. They asked me across for the trial. I went over at the end of my domestic season and had not been training because it was the break.

“So, when I went to England I was very tired. British football is very intense. I went back to Ghana and I worked hard in my training and from there I moved to Israel. I went on trial and I signed for Ashdod. Maybe at that time I wasn’t ready (for the Premier League). I feel now I am ready. I am just hoping for the best.”

On the international front, Agyei said he's dreaming of playing for the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars and that the technical team are closely monitoring him from afar: ''Playing for Ghana is my big dream. I want to play for the senior national side and believe it is possible. I am working towards that, and I hope they call me. Through my performances on this journey so far, the coaches are watching me. All I can try to do is showcase myself and hope for the best.''
