English-born of Ghanaian descent Eddie Nketiah scored a hat-trick for Arsenal in a preseason win over Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Arsenal commenced their preseason exercise for the 2022/23 season with a 5-1 victory over Ipswich Town in a behind-closed-doors friendly at London Colney.

Nketiah, who was recently handed Arsenal's legendary no 14 shirt, registered his name thrice on the score sheet in the first half and also assisted Sambi Lokonga's goal, before Folarin Balogun got in on the act in the second half.

Nketiah started the game with Black Stars midfielder Thomas Teye Partey who left the shores of Ghana last week to rejoin the Gunners' preparations for the upcoming season.

Arsenal will be departing for Germany to battle out with FC Nurnberg before flying out to USA for preseason tour where they will be engaged in three games, building up for Premier League kick-off at Crystal Palace on Friday, August 5.

Nketiah has been reported reaching agreement with the Ghana Football Association over his international allegiance switch to represent the West African nation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He was born to Ghanaian parents in London.
