Ghana international midfielder Elisha Owusu has officially completed his move from French club AJ Auxerre to Turkish Super Lig side Erzurumspor FK.
The 28-year-old midfielder has signed for the newly promoted Turkish outfit on a permanent deal, bringing an end to his three-and-a-half-year spell with Auxerre.
Owusu joined Auxerre from Belgian side Gent in January 2023 for a reported fee of 500,000 euros and quickly established himself as an important player in the French club’s midfield.
His leadership qualities also saw him appointed captain, a role he held until the end of last season.
The Ghanaian leaves Auxerre with one year remaining on his contract, with the French club reportedly receiving 1 million Euros, excluding bonuses, from the transfer. The deal represents a financial gain for Auxerre following their initial investment in the midfielder.
Owusu’s final months at the club were affected by uncertainty over his future, and he was left on the bench during Auxerre’s recent 1-0 friendly victory over Werder Bremen.
His move to Erzurumspor now gives him an opportunity to experience Turkish football and compete in the Super Lig following the club’s promotion to the top flight.
