Former Ghana international Andy Yiadom has joined AFC Wimbledon on a five-month contract that will keep him at the club until January 2027.
The veteran defender brings a wealth of English Football League experience to Wimbledon, having made almost 400 appearances across the EFL's three divisions during a distinguished career.
The 34-year-old has been training with the club for several weeks and has now completed his move, adding valuable experience and defensive depth to manager Johnnie Jackson's squad.
“I'm grateful for the opportunity to play for Wimbledon and I'm ready to give my all for the team,” Yiadom told the club's official website. “I'm really excited to get involved in the games that we have coming up.”
Jackson welcomed the Ghanaian's arrival, highlighting the leadership and experience he brings to the team.
“Andy has been training with us for a number of weeks and has really impressed,” the Wimbledon manager said. “He has vast experience of the level, brings character and leadership and much needed cover in defensive positions.”
Yiadom began to establish himself in English football at Barnet, where he made 177 appearances after initially playing much of his early career on the wing before successfully converting to right-back.
He played a key role in Barnet's 2014/15 Conference title-winning campaign, earning a place in the league's Team of the Year for his performances.
His consistent displays attracted attention from higher divisions, leading to a move to Barnsley on a free transfer in 2016.
Yiadom quickly impressed at Barnsley, helping the club retain their Championship status before taking on greater responsibility within the squad.
His leadership qualities were recognised when he was appointed club captain during the 2017/18 season, further establishing his reputation as a dependable and influential defender.
In May 2018, Yiadom joined Reading following the expiry of his Barnsley contract.
The move came after proposed Premier League switches to Huddersfield Town and Swansea City failed to materialise.
Yiadom went on to spend eight years with the Berkshire club, becoming an important figure in their squad and making an impressive 253 appearances.
His contribution was recognised when he was named Reading's Player of the Season for 2021/22.
Now, after years of experience across the English football pyramid and at international level with Ghana, Yiadom begins a new chapter at AFC Wimbledon.
