Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Gyasi has made a move to Italian Serie A club Empoli, departing from Spezia after their relegation from the top-flight league last season.

The 29-year-old's impressive performances caught the attention of several clubs, both in Italy and abroad, including Bologna, Salernitana, and Sassuolo. However, Gyasi has opted to join Empoli for the upcoming season.

Despite being in advanced negotiations with other clubs, Gyasi remained committed to Spezia and actively participated in their pre-season training before finalizing his move to Empoli.

Gyasi played a crucial role in Spezia's promotion to Serie A three seasons ago, scoring the decisive goal against Frosinone. Throughout his tenure at the club, he remained an integral part of the team, and his absence during the play-off against Hellas Verona seemed to have impacted their chances of survival in the top division.

Unfortunately, Spezia couldn't retain their Serie A status, suffering a 3-1 defeat to Hellas Verona in the play-off.

Last season, Gyasi made 35 appearances for Spezia, contributing two goals to the team's efforts. Prior to joining Spezia in 2018, he had played for Torino, Pisa, and Sudtirol.
