Having left out of the Oranje squad for this month's national team assignments, the 22-year-old still remains committed to playing for the European country at the expense of the West African nation

Ghana-target Jeremie Frimpong has intimated that "I still see myself playing under Koeman as the Netherlands is my country" after being snubbed for this month's national team duties by the Dutch manager.

The in-form Bayer Leverkusen right-back was left out of the Euro 2024 qualifying games against Greece and Ireland after failing to honour a call-up to the Junior side in the past.

However, according to the former Barcelona boss, who is now in charge of the Oranje senior national team, the omission of the Manchester City youth graduate from his squad stems from the above-mentioned reason.

That notwithstanding, the talented right-back is still committed to the cause of national assignment with the Dutch side after seeing speculation over a switch of allegiance to the West African nation being mooted once again.

"That was a good conversation and we are now looking ahead. Of course I still see myself playing under Koeman," the ex-Celtic full-back was quoted to have said by Kicker. " I played for the youth teams when I was young and I still support that choice. The Netherlands is my country.”

Born to Ghanaian parents in Netherlands, Frimpong still remains eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana at the international level despite playing for the Netherlands U19, U-20 & U21 national youth teams.
