Bernard Tekpetey has undergone a successful surgery procedure in Austria after sustaining an injury during Ludogorets UEFA Champions League qualifier against Qarabag.

The enterprising forward broke his tibia on his left chin after a brutal clash with Qarabag's lanky centre-back Kevin Medina Rentería and had to be taken off on the hour mark.

Tekpetey, was however flown to Austria where the procedure was done by the renowned surgeon Dr. Paul Stampfl.

The 26-year-old will stay in Vienna for a week before he travels back to Razgrad to continue his rehabilitation process, aiming for a swift and successful recovery in the next couple of months, as he won’t be able to play a part in the Bulgarian top-flight for now.

Meanwhile, during the first leg of the tie where Tekpetey suffered the injury, Ludogorets defeated the Azerbaijani powerhouse 2-1 at the Tofig Bahramov Stadium in Baku.
