The 21-year-old former Berekum Chelsea rearguard has completed his move to the Norwegian second-tier outfit for the new football season
Norwegian 1. Division club Ranheim Fotball have announced the signing of Ghanaian centre-back Daniel Asiedu on a one-and-a-half-year contract, with an option of extension for a further year at the end of the season.
The promising starlet, who left Swiss Super League outfit FC Basel in May this year, is joining the EXTRA Arena campaigners on a free transfer after excelling in his trials with the first-team since mid-August.
Announcing the capture of the 21-year-old guardsman, the Ranheim-based club have said: ''Ranheim strengthens its defense: Ghanaian center back Daniel Asiedu (21) has signed for the club. The 195-centimeter-tall defender with a background in Swiss FC Basel is ready to play for Friday's home game against Egersund.
''The 21-year-old has been part of the academy of Swiss FC Basel in recent years, where he also spent the 2025/26 season observing and training regularly with the club's A-team. After his contract with the Swiss giants expired on May 31, the defender has been without a club. Now his career in blue continues on the shores.''
Right after securing the signature of the former Ghana U20 defender, sporting director Kåre Ingebrigtsen has told his club's official website: ''Daniel is a real powerhouse at almost two meters, and we see great untapped potential in him. The fact that he has been here for a long time has given us the opportunity to evaluate him closely in everyday life. His characteristics suit us perfectly,
''We have signed a contract until the end of the year, with an option to extend if the autumn meets expectations. Now Daniel will have the opportunity to show himself in a match situation, and we look forward to following his development closely.''
The Ghanaian youngster is expected to make his debut with Ranheim Fotball when they welcome Egersunds IK at the EXTRA Arena on Friday in the Norwegian 1. Division.
